The notebook and desk are too organised – but at least the coffee is accurate…
Apologies to ‘regular’ readers of this blog, who will have noticed that I’ve not exactly been active on here over the past year.
A friend recently asked me whether the blog is still going. The short answer is “yes”. But professional writers and editors like me sometimes get a wee bit busy with paid projects and, as a consequence, I’ve had to ease back on blogging these past few months. A recent bout of Covid didn’t help.
But one website where some of my recent work – at least, columns written under my name, rather than by me as a ghostwriter – can be found at a great new transatlantic website called New Thinking.
The mag defines itself as follows:
New Thinking magazine is about no one way of thinking. It is a nexus of expertise untethered from the 24-hour news cycle. It is a space where minds in a variety of fields can step away from their niches and take the long view. Here, diversity of thought is a singular strength.
The New Thinking team is still finding its feet in the publishing world, but the magazine is a strong new entrant to the market. Led by Editor-in-Chief, author and New York resident Cara Sheffler, NT offers refreshing and informed new takes on the world of business, politics, entertainment, sustainability and culture. Plus, I come along once in a while and bring the tone down by writing about crime, justice and public policy challenges.
You can read my NT articles here:

But do read well beyond my simple prose. The site is stuffed with exciting new and established writers, and will only get stronger…
